Shortpacked!, by David Willis, is the wacky tales of a toy store. I consider this comic to be somewhat
the inspiration for my comic. David Willis has an excellent sense of humor. Although he tends to focus
pop culture and transformer references, the humor is pretty much universal. Recently, he's dedicated most
of his toy based jokes to the strip version of Shortpacked! at TNI,
leaving the main comic for drama and character development. I highly recommend this to anyone.
Another comic by David Willis. This is the continuation of David's previous webcomic, It's Walky.
The free comic is updated every saturday. The members-only comic is available to those who donate money,
more details are available at the website. The website also serves as an archive Willis's previous webcomics.
I also recommend this comic to anyone, I would suggest reading the complete archives because Willis often makes
references to his previous comics in his current ones.
Another one of my favorites. This is a fantasy comic starring a seer who has the power to see the past, present, and future.
What I like about this comic is how the author, Mookie, portrays the cast in uncommon character types. Characters that would
usually only have a supporting role in similar comics are the heroes in this one. The comic has a pention for breaking out into
random fight scenes, which are actually quite well written and planned. Although the art style isn't as sophisticated as some other comics,
the excellent writing and characters more than make up for it.
Abstract Gender, written by Rayne, is an interesting story about two teenage boys who are mysteriously transformed into girls. One of them is
permanently stuck as a girl, while the other is able to change genders at will. The story is surprisingly deep for a
transgender comic. The story is executed intelligently and realistically (well, as realistic as magic gender swapping can be).
The comic seems to have a chronic case of losing artists, but the current artist, Asuka, is doing wonderful job. Asuka's
art style has given the comic a renewed vigor and greatly enhances the realism of the characters. I really enjoy this comic,
although it seems to be heading into increasingly darker storytelling. It might not appeal to a few people.
